Katie Melua凯蒂·玛露19岁，俄罗斯人，成长于俄罗斯及英国。2003年底，首支单曲“The Closest Thing To Crazy”发行便强登英国金榜Top 10。不久，广获好评的首张专辑一举挤下英伦人气天后Dido/蒂朵、击退Norah Jones，荣获6周英国金榜后座，成为英国2004开春迄今最畅销专辑。声线兼备蓝调、民谣、爵士味道的Katie Melua，常被乐评拿来与诺拉·琼丝相提并论。但她那相较甜美清澈的年轻嗓音，让人遥想起已逝的跨界流行爵士美声Eva Cassidy。而在被Mike Batt发掘的那天，Katie所演唱的正好就是受Eva启发而学下的创作曲“Faraway Voice”。此外，她也自承在音乐方面受到Queen、Joni Mitchell、Bob Dylan和印度音乐及爱尔兰民谣等多类乐风的影响。

1984年，她降生在前苏联的Georgia。随后是同家人的迁徙，一路从Belfast, Ireland 到 London。于是她成功了，一切仿佛很自然，很偶然，也很意外。

2003 年底，首支单曲"The Closest Thing To Crazy"强登英国金榜Top 10。不久，广获好评的首张专辑"Call Of The Search"一举挤下英伦人气天后Dido、击退Norah Jones，荣获6周英国金榜后座，成为英国2004开春迄今最畅销专辑。后来江美琪把The Closest Thing To Crazy翻唱成了「谁会相信」。

今年，Katie发行了她的第二张录音室专辑"Piece By Piece"。首支单曲主打Nine Million Bicycles融合着爵士的流行味道慢版的抒情小调扑面而来。而对于我们来说，最重要的是，她讲述了一个来自北京的故事。一般来说，专辑的前三支单曲都是抓人耳朵的。所以，从Shy boy,Nine Million Bicycles,再到专辑同名歌曲Piece By Piece，我们听到的是基于流行和接近平淡的Katie的声音和演唱。甚至对我来说，Piece By Piece最后的抒情有太多的矫柔造作。当三支流行单曲过后，Katie才开始展现她的才华。于是我们听到了跳跃的Halfway Up The Hindu Kush。低沉的爵士鼓，轻盈的打击乐器。我仿佛还能看见Katie恣意的演唱，呵呵，恣意，突然就用了这个词，就如同突然响起了这样的音乐。

My Mama don't tell me...就这样随意的开场，然后是声音随音乐、情绪的游走。这个时候也就不用想的太多。选择闭上眼睛，让耳朵再敏感一些，再敏感一些，以至于能抓住最细微的气息和情感。就让我们享受这一刻，享受Blues In The Night。
